Traditional with a Twist
I'm crazy about this home designed by Betz Design Studio. I'm usually not drawn to a traditional aesthetic, but something about this space just speaks to me. There are lots of interesting pieces throughout the home and pops of color in just the right place.
If you couldn't tell, I'm a big fan of deep blues. I love that they went a step beyond painting the walls dark blue (a bold choice by itself), and chose blue curtains and a chair as well. You'd think that might be a little overwhelming and make the room feel dark, but it works because of all the natural light streaming in. The brown leather sofas fit in nicely and keep the room from being too matchy-matchy.
I love the steel frame french doors leading out to the patio. They add a little industrial twist to an otherwise traditional room.
My goodness, that chandelier is fantastic. I don' think I would put it in my home, but it sure is beautiful. Also, let's not overlook the HUGE wine cellar. Now there's something I would put in my home if I could.
This bedroom is a great example of the perfectly placed pops of color I mentioned earlier. This room might look a little drab with just white, tan, taupe, etc. But the little bit of color from the pillows breaks up the neutral palette, making this room a little more visually interesting.
I can definitely get on board with an all white bathroom. It feels very calm and serene.
I love steel frame windows in the kitchen. Adding a non-traditional element makes the space feel unique and special.
More pops of color!
I adore the seating area off to the side. It looks like the perfect place to sip a cup of tea and read a good book. Also, that rug looks divinely soft.
