Funky Beach House
I love seeing interiors that are totally unexpected. When you think of beach houses in the Hamptons, you probably envision interiors with a somewhat traditional coastal aesthetic. This beach house designed by Ghislaine Viñas Interior Design is anything but traditional, with plenty of funky and unexpected elements throughout.
This entryway has some traditional elements, but with a bit of a twist. The console table, for example, has a traditional shape but the bright green color puts a funky modern spin on it. I love the light fixture too. It's sort of a cross between a Sputnik chandelier and a bubble chandelier.
This space definitely has a coastal feel with the blue and white color palette, but it's still not quite what you'd expect. I love the bright shade of blue on the chairs and the vaulted ceiling.
I love all the different shades of blue in here. It really adds a lot of depth to the space.
This dining room is fantastic. The navy blue rug helps the furniture stand out against the white walls. Those pendant lights are amazing. I love the bright blue and the different-sized lights. So cool.
Another wonderful and funky dining space. I'm almost at a loss of words over the crazy light fixtures in here. There must be 20 or so different light fixtures up there all hung at different heights. But somehow it works. Since the rest of the room is relatively tame, it allows the lighting to really stand out and be the star of the space.
What a great place for a large-scale work of art. Between the white walls and the high ceilings it's the perfect blank canvas. I love that they chose a piece that features the same bright blue featured throughout other spaces in the home.
Just when I think I have this house figured out, there's yet another unexpected space. So far it's been shades of blue and white, but now we have some green in the mix. I love the banana leaf wallpaper. I love the teal and black rug too. It brings a subtle hint of glamour to the room.
I love the wallpaper behind the bed. It looks like a watercolor painting and sort of reads as a large-scale work of art.
This is a fairly classic bathroom with one small twist--the grout in the shower. It's the same shade of bright blue seen all over the rest of the house. How cool is that?
I absolutely love the green furniture in here. It looks fantastic on the black and white backdrop. This space is very reminiscent of some of Dorothy Draper's designs.
At first glace this looks like a fairly normal space, but if you look closely, you can see that there are tiny people on the wall. Perhaps dancers or synchronized swimmers. That is basically the definition of funky.
This was definitely unexpected. This much orange in any room takes guts, but it's very creative and actually looks pretty cool. I love the vertical stripes on the table. It helps it stand out and not fade away in a sea of orange.
I love the chartreuse striped headboard. The pineapple wallpaper is delightful too.
I love that the tile in the shower perfectly matches the headboard in the bedroom and that the sconces are pineapples to go with the wallpaper. It creates continuity from one space to the next. Very creative.
I love the blue wicker swings. This poolside cabana looks like a great place to hang out on a hot summer day.
